I first opened my account with Norwest Bank in late 1996. In 97, Norwest bought out Wells Fargo. (Wells employees claim that Wells bought out Norwest, which is just another one of their lies)

Norwest came to my employer, and I opened the account, but I couldn't put my husband's name on the account because he wasn't there to sign up. I wasn't too worried about adding his name right away because we still had an account at a different bank, so we waited because we had decided to move out of state. ~ A year after opening my account, we moved to California. After a couple of months of settling in, we went into a CA wells fargo to put his name on the account, and they said that they couldn't because they are still going through the Norwest/Wells change over. What???!!! What a stupid excuse! They can process money in and out of accounts, but can't add my husband's name to the account? We left angry and confused.

~ A month later, we tried again. This time we tried a different branch, and they said that since we opened it in another state, they would have to get the paperwork from that state to add his name to the account. Again....what a stupid excuse!!!!

~ Another month later, we receive the out of state paperwork, sign it and gave it to them. Another month went by, and his name is STILL not on the account. We went BACK AGAIN, and they said that they lost the paperwork. Stupid excuse #3. I asked why they didn't call me? She said they didn't have my phone number. Stupid excuse #4. REALLY??? IT'S IN MY FILE STUPID!!!! I know they have it in my file, because they called me a week before this, trying to get me to sign up for a credit card. Just another lie.

~ So now we fill out the paperwork AGAIN. Another month goes by. We go back AGAIN, and they said the out of state Wells said that they changed forms, so I need to fill out the new form. Stupid excuse #5. Why didn't they call me??? No answer from them. This is SO ridiculous!
~After trying for over a year, we finally gave up on adding his name, and just kept both accounts.

~ By now you're probably asking...why stay with Wells at this point? The reason is that I give money to my elderly mother, who is on a fixed income, through our linked Wells Fargo accounts, and Wells is the only bank in her area. So I'm stuck with Wells Fargo because I can't send a check to my mother because she can't get to the bank to deposit it on her own, and we don't live in the same state.

~A year later, we decided to open saving accounts for our two children. MISTAKE!!!! We went into a branch with all of the necessary paperwork. Birth certificates, social security cards, school IDs, etc. We opened the accounts with $100 each, and had them do a monthly automatic transfer of $50 in each of their accounts. The first 6 months were fine. NO problems with the automatic transfers. When I checked their accounts on the 7th month, only one transfer went through. I called the 800 number and asked why. They said they didn't know, and I should go to the branch where I opened the accounts. (They charged me a fee for that phone call, can you believe that???)
So we went to the branch, and they said the transfers for the one child will no longer go through until they receive his social security number. I said that I already gave it to them when I opened BOTH accounts. They said they never received it and they can not even open an account without proper ID and social security number. I then asked them....IF that is true, then why has the account been open and transfers happening for the last 6 months??? She had no answer. What a surprise!! I went back home, grabbed the S.S. card, and when back and showed them. She claimed to have fixed the problem, and transferred the money. (Another fee for transferring the money, even though they claim that Minor accounts do not have that fee - ANOTHER LIE!!.....When I saw that fee a few days later, I called and complained. They took off the fee, but then charged me a fee for the phone call!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! I HATE THEM NOW!!!!)

I checked my kids accounts the next month, and you guessed it...only one went through. I went back in with ALL of the paperwork AGAIN, and they said it was the same issue...no S.S. number on file. I asked the SAME banker what happened, and she said she didn't know. I asked for a manager to help us. The manager apologized, and entered his social into his file. Or so I thought......Guess what? Next month, no transfer. GRRRR!!!!! I had to go back AGAIN!!! I spoke to the same manager and I said if she doesn't fix it NOW and permanently, then I will close ALL accounts right NOW! This time, she fixed it. I also asked her why it is impossible to put my husband's name on the account? (That's when I explained the nightmare we went through before finally giving up) She said that she didn't know, but she could add his name right now, and she did, in about 10 seconds. If it was so simple, then WHY THE HELL COULDN'T THEY DO THAT 3 YEARS AGO?????

Skip ahead to 2011:
We have moved away from California a few years earlier, and I now have a checking, savings, 2 children's accounts, and a business account with Wells Fargo. I make a routine business deposit of several checks, using the ATM machine, like I've done a hundred times before. The ATM is broken down. It shows: "not able to accept deposits", so I go through the drive up teller to make the deposit. Everything goes well, and I leave. The next day, I noticed a new fee on my business account. I call the branch, and they said it is a "teller fee" because I did not make the deposit through the ATM. ~ WTF????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????? ARE YOU INSANE???? YOUR MACHINE IS BROKEN, AND I HAVE TO PAY YOU A FEE FOR USING THE TELLER???? You guys are damned thieves!
At this point, I have put up with Wells fees and bad attitudes for 13 years.

Skip ahead to 2019:
Over 22 years of hassles, endless fees, and lies, I have reached my final straw!!
I made a deposit of $1500 in cash to the business account. (Using the ATM so I don't get another "teller fee") I always have the ATM receipt emailed to my business email address. I DID receive the receipt immediately. This was on a Monday. On that Thursday, my printer died, so I went to Staples to buy another. The transaction was declined because of insufficient funds. WHAT??? I checked my account, and the $1500 deposit never showed up. That day was also payday for my employees. Luckily, I had enough in the account to cover their paychecks, but not enough to pay for the printer since the $1500 is missing. I printed my receipt of the deposit, and went to the branch. They were rude, and acted like I was lying about everything. I asked them "how did Wells send me a receipt for the deposit, if I am lying?" They said there was nothing they could do, and that I should call the 800 number. The employee at the 800 number said I had to settle this at the branch. REALLY?????? %$#*&%$@#!!!! Now I REALLY hate Wells F*#@ing Fargo!!!

Six weeks later, after fighting with them with no resolution, I had to get an attorney to settle this. My attorney went to the branch with the evidence and spoke to the same rude manager who treated me like -BADWORD-! The manager told my attorney that she checked the ATM records for that day and found my deposit. He asked her why she didn't call his client and let her know, and also why the money is not in her account yet? The lying manager said she was "just about to do that". My attorney then told her that she could have checked the ATM 6 weeks ago when his client first reported the problem, and settled this then, and he believes that she had NO intention of giving that money back until he arrived and threatened legal action. He also said that if the $1500 AND the overdraft fees associated with this intentional deception is not in his client's account in one hour, then he will be filing a suit against Wells Fargo and HER personally. He also told her that with all of the shady things that Wells Fargo is recently known for, he would also be contacting the media after filing the suit. My attorney left and called me and told me what happened, and he asked me to check my account. My money was given back within 15 minutes of his leaving the branch.

I truly believe that there was a simple glitch with the ATM, but the manager decided to keep the money for herself since it was cash, and she thought there was nothing I could do about it. AGAIN...Wells Fargo is just a bunch of lying THIEVES!!!

That was the last straw!! I immediately opened new accounts with a different national bank, and I closed ALL of my Wells Fargo accounts. DO NOT TRUST WELLS FARGO!!!! They will steal your money with any chance they get, by means of fake fees, or just stealing your deposits.

I would just like to state that Wells Fargo may have the worst web site experience of any large company period.

As a software professional, it is amazing to see a company as large as Wells Fargo fail with their web site. Probably created at a cost of millions of dollars, no care, thought or respect for the wells customer was ever involved in this abortion of a web site.

Any user which wants to download a statement, select Statements, then account, then date range. EACH TIME. Find the statement, open dialog with a random number unreflective of the content. Rename download and wait for the PDF to come up (a few seconds). Close pdf window, refocusing web site. Back button is pressed and ALL INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNT, DATE RANGE, ETC. IS GONE then repeat. I have 320 statements to download. This is about as bad as it gets. Anyone needing statement history is looking for all statements, not just one.

Wells Fargo couldn't contact me by mail. So rather than contact me by the phone number, email or online messaging they have, they closed my account and sent a check with my 8029 dollar balance to the same address they couldn't contact me at. Now...they want me to go to the branch to fix the problem. There are no Wells Fargo Branchs in Canada. I am here for three months and they will not fix this problem. Can we say crooks. Who in there right mind would send out money to an address that they have had trouble contacting without trying to contact the individual with all three other means of contact they have. Not to mention close my account without any notice. Yes they suck bigtime.....not the first time I have had such a wonderful experience with these crooks.

My issue with wells Fargo is that they have held money not rightfully theirs. My parents transferred money from one trust account with Wells Fargo by wire transfer to a trust account that they had me create with Wells Fargo.

It seems like a very easy transaction to go from one account with Wells Fargo to another account but was told that due to the high amount of the wire transfer the IRS got alerted which I found out to be true but the longest that they can hold the money is 30 days, head has been in excess of thirty days and Wells Fargo refuses to release the money I have since had to hire an attorney to help me to obtain money that is rightfully mine from my mother and father's Trust. It is the belief of my attorney that they are holding on to this money for as long as humanly possible so that they can earn money off of my money, I am at the point now where this was my retirement I left my job and spent the rest of my liquid asset based on promises for different release dates from Wells Fargo and it's a shame that I now have to apply for food stamps and wait out this process of a lawsuit because I have hired Morgan & Morgan to help me with this issue. Wells Fargo legally stealing people's money and using it for their benefit needs to stop. Wells Fargo is hurting peoples lives by doing what they are doing with other people's money. Shame on them

Wow, I see I was not the only person / business betrayed by Wells Fargo! After 7 years in business with them, they simply said: "our business models do not aligned", then they took over our accounts with no regards to our financial situation or the critical defense missions we support. As a small business, I would run as far away as I could from this company! We will be filing a Congressional Inquiry for an investigation into their dealings with us and for their removal as an SBA Small Business lender!

Remember the operating mantra is that Wells Fargo is too big to fail noting that THE BIG Banks OWN the FED so any punitive actions are merely a ruse and at best PR for the masses. If no one goes to jail (and no one is) then any fines imposed are simply the tax deductible 'cost of doing business' and hence NO real punishment, so abuses will eventually resume.

Customer for over 20 years. Have a business account, LOC, and six separate checking accounts. My 18yo son's debit card was inoperable. Went to local branch (where I do all my banking) to get a replacement card mailed to him. (He is in a city where there is NO WELLS FARGO branch). Was told I could not get him a replacement card that he had to come into the branch and sign for it. I could call the 800 number and have one sent. This is absurd and terrible service. The branch was indignant, unhelpful, un apologetic, and provided ZERO help. Not a good way to treat a LONG TERM client.

Used to have a checking acct and an IRA with Hells Cargo. I closed the accounts in 2017. I moved recently and they sent me a card showing my address changed on the IRA for which I closed. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone today getting them to confirm it is closed. ALSO... when EVER I deal with Wells Fargo, I record the conversations. I would advise anyone when dealing with this corrupt bank to RECORD THE CALLS. It may be your only hope if you go to court.

Wouldnt cash my jury duty check from the City of Philadelphia that was drawn on their bank. State ID expired but provided other photo id and information to prove my identity. They would not cash a $9 check.

These sorry -BADWORD-s sold my mortgage and didn’t show the last 2 payment I made. So now the new company shows I haven’t made a payment since March 2019. The they don’t get this shit straightened out let me tell u I will sue the shit out of both them and the new servicer. This bank Is the sorriest -BADWORD- company I have ever dealt with in my life. They better get this shit straight!! I cannot tell u how bad I hate them.
